Strasburg Small Business Seminars
Calling all entrepreneurs! The Strasburg Community Library, in collaboration with the Town of Strasburg, will host Small Business Seminars every third Tuesday of the month. Topics in the past have included "How to Start a Small Business," "One-Hour Website," and "How to Use AI Ethically in Your Small Business." This program is free, and all are welcome to join us.
Strasburg Program
Join us at the Strasburg Community Library as we welcome Ruth Hoffman, who will speak on the history of her great-grandmother's friendship quilt. Ms. Hoffman will join us on Monday, April 8 at 5:00 pm and Monday, April 15 at 11:30 am. The quilt itself will be on display from April 8-30. Please join us.
Strasburg Poetry Programs
Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Strasburg Community Library! On Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 pm, Poet Estelle Watson Sanders will read from her works "Leaves Falling Upon the Sky, Reflections of a Life So Far," and "Shattering the Glass Ceiling and Other Shards of a Life." On Tuesday, April 23 from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, the Walking Mall Poet Joseph Jablowski will bring in his collection of typewriters, so that patrons young and old may try them out and write their own poems. These programs are free, and no registration is required.
Wooden Egg Decoration Craft
Join us at the County Library on Tuesday, March 26 at 4:30 pm for a Wooden Egg Decoration craft. All supplies will be provided. This program is intended for tweens, teens, and adults, but all are welcome to join!
Black History Month Program
In 1921 members of Woodstock's African American community came together to perform a show they called "Virginia Minstrels" to raise money for their new church building.
On February 13 (and again on February 28th virtually) Archivist Zachary Hottel will present our annual Black History Month program which will focus on this show, the people that performed in it, and the place it holds in our local community.
The physical program will occur in the library's Activity Room located at 514 Stoney Creek Blvd. Edinburg Virginia starting at 6:30PM on February 13th.
The virtual event will be held via the Library's Facebook live feature stating at 6:30PM on February 28th.
Tax Information
It's tax time again. Click the link below for information on downloadable tax forms and free tax preparation assistance. Please note: Such preparation assistance is not available at the County Library.
Chess for Kids: County
Kids, tweens, and teens are invited to get together at the County Library in Edinburg to play chess. Players of all skill levels are welcome. This is a meet-up program where participants can learn from one another, there will not be formal instruction. A limited number of chess sets will be available or players can bring their own. Meet-ups will take place on the following Tuesdays at 4:30 PM: January 30, February 27, April 2, April 30, and May 28.
New Market Story Times
The New Market Area Library hosts two, monthly storytime programs for children. Books and Babies is held the first Wednesday of each month through May at 10 AM for ages birth to three. Preschool Storytime is held on the third Friday of each month through May at 10 AM for ages three to five.
For children's storytimes, if Shenandoah County Schools are closed, the storytime is cancelled. If schools are going late, storytime will be held.

LEGO Club: County Library
LEGO Club at the County Library is held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 4:30 PM (starting August 24). As always, this program is free and all materials are provided. We recommend this program for brick builders ages 5+.
Mount Jackson Story Time

Lego Night: Mount Jackson
The Mount Jackson Community Library offers a LEGO Night on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30-7:30 pm. This program is suggested for school aged children and no registration is required. Contact the Mt. Jackson Community Library for more information.
Basye Book Buddies: Basye
Basye Book Buddies is for children and their caregivers at the Basye-Orkney Springs Library. Join us Wednesdays from 10-11am to read books, sing songs and have fun at the library. Contact the Basye-Orkney Springs Community Library for more information.

The Strasburg Community Library is pleased to announce that Knit & Knatter now will meet twice a month! Join us every first and third Thursday at 1:00 pm for a group work session of knitting and crocheting! Contact the library directly for more information.

Join us at the Strasburg Community Library on the first Friday of each month at 1:00 pm for All Booked Up, a new kind of book discussion club. Join us for informal talks about 5-star and current reads. You'll leave with new reading buddies and "to-be-read" lists! This program will meet regularly on the first Friday of every month in the Quiet Room.

The Strasburg Community Library offers weekly story time programs year-round. Wednesdays at 10:00 AM the library hosts Baby Rhyme Time.
