POSITION: Archives and Special Collections Cataloger, Part-time, 12 month contract
LOCATION: Shenandoah County Library, Edinburg, VA
DESCRIPTION: The Shenandoah County Library seeks an individual with professional experience in the cataloging of archives and special collections to help clear a backlog of un-cataloged items that have been accessioned to the Truban Archives. These items include manuscripts, documents, monographs, ephemera, and document collections. The Archives and Special Collections cataloger will provide original and complex copy cataloging for materials for entry into the library’s TLC Integrated Library System for display in our online catalog of holdings.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major studies in History or Library Science.
At least one year professional cataloging experience, including archival and/or special collection materials
Knowledge of DCRM(B), AACR2, LCSH, Dewey Classification and MARC21
Master’s Degree or higher in the fields of History or Library Science with considerable reference and genealogical research experience.
Knowledge of TLC Integrated Library Software system
Considerable knowledge of the history and geography of Shenandoah County and surrounding areas
DURATION AND PAY SCALE: The contract will be for a period of time no longer than 12 months (52 weeks) and not more than 16 hours per week. The hourly rate is $17.86 which is equivalent to Grade 19A on the Shenandoah County payscale.
