Basye Halloween Program

Join us at the Basye-Orkney Springs Library on Saturday, October 25 at 6:30 pm for a Children's Halloween program. We'll share stories, snacks, and crafts, and you'll have a chance to win some great prizes. Be sure to wear your Halloween costume for a spooktacular evening of fun!



New Market Halloween

The New Market Area Library will host a Trick-or-Treat event for children on Friday, October 31, from 5 to 7 pm. Dress up in your costume, and join us for an evening of scary fun!

Photo ID required when voting effective July 1, 2014

Voters must present one of the following acceptable forms of identification when voting, effective July 1, 2014:

  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License
  • DMV-issued photo identification card
  • Valid United States Passport
  • Valid Employee photo identification card
  • Other government-issued photo identification card
  • Valid college or university student photo identification card (issuer must be an institution of higher education located in Virginia)

If you do not have an acceptable form of identification
please contact your local voter registration office for a free ID.

Shenandoah Room Hours

Devoted to local history resources, the Shenandoah Room at the County Library is open during regular business hours.  Please note:  Material held in the Archives Room can be made available only from Monday-Friday.  The Shenandoah Room operates primarily as a self-service facility, with assistance available according to the following schedule:

Crafty Reads

Join us at the County Library for "Crafty Reads: Exhibit Viewing and Book Talk" on Thursday, October 30 at 6:00 pm. View all the crafty items your fellow library patrons have created during National Craft-Making Month, and share your ideas. Explore crafty how-to books and hobby inspired fiction to inspire your creativity. We’ll introduce some “cozy fiction” authors from our collection and invite you to share and discuss your favorites. Light refreshments will be provided.

New Market Adult Program

The New Market Area Library welcomes Family Practitioner Dr. Nat Kirkland for a talk on Saturday, November 8 at 3:00 pm. Dr. Kirkland will speak on “Food and Your Health: New Medical Insights," his program exploring the role of nutrition in the production and prevention of disease. Please join us.
